A few sketches from this week

These were all 2-5 minutes, which is entirely to long.  I will be practicing more.

another portrait

Another painting.  This one took longer (about an hour) because I couldn't get it to look right, and is a much less successful likeness.  So I am cutting my losses, swallowing my pride and posting it anyway.  I still enjoyed parts of it.

I will be painting more.  I would love to be better at faces.

This was supposed to be a page of portrait sketches, but I liked the way the first sketch turned out, so I painted it.  Now it is a 30ish min speed paint.

I have the same goal of a page tomorrow.  But maybe we'll get a new. 

Plane shot Final

This was a great test for what i wanted to accomplish and with that in mind, I am calling it done.  There are still problems with it, but i think the problems will take longer to fix than the shot is worth (i.e. problems with the footage and the model).  All things considered I'm happy with how it turned out, and that it took less time than i thought to complete it.

My next test will include a CG character.  That should be fun.

Warm up Sketches

more warm ups.  pose maniacs and the figure drawing site.  Most of these were drawn on the Windows 8 Surface Pro in Photoshop.  I think i really like the machine and am highly considering buying it.

Man of Steel

In honor of the movie coming out, i decided to turn a completely random sketch form my head into a piece of Fan Art.  I see this movie in less than 24 hours from now (10:22 on Wed 6/12/13) and I couldn't be more excited about it.

As with all of my recent posts, I'm still not thrilled with this, but its farther than i have taken most of my sketch posts.  Hope you like it.

 I did several pages of of sketches from different sites a while ago and never got around to posting them, so i figured i would and then maybe use some of them to do more finished sketches from.  Here is the first of those images.  I think all of these come from pixelovely

WW action sketches

Some more sketches I finished this morning.  I did a figure drawing from reference and then split that up to do some more Wonder Woman sketches.

It was a fun practice that I think I will repeat soon.

Wonder Woman

I drew this about a month ago, but was not happy the drawing so I never posted.  Still not happy, but I'm less sensitive about it now.  There are elements of the costume that I like.  And its a nice departure from Superman.  I'd like to do more.

(I just realized i never posted this.  Its probably safe to do so now.)

My latest freelance project (May 2013).  This had a CRAZY deadline, so there are tons of problems here.  It was, however, a great experience and I think it turned out pretty well, all things considered.

zbrush

(This is now a bit old, but just wanted to share.)

I was messing around with zbrush last night (about a month ago now), as a possible way to improve a model.

warm up

I am not as thrilled with this as I want to be, but Im ok with that.  I'm gonna try to do a lot more warm up drawings this month and they are probably gonna be Justice League oriented.

I am also gonna stay away from Superman for a while.  Maybe Batman or Wonder Woman next.

Its been a while since I have posted anything on here and its been a while since I have done a painting.  As such this took entirely too long(it was supposed to be a speed painting.  I really liked the energy in the reference so i decided to try it out.
